Utilizing plyometrics into training program can be beneficial in many sports. General strength training program itself teaches us to produce force, however in reality competition/playing sports can be so much more than just lifting and carry heavy weights in the gym. Though it is important that we strength training prior to playing sports to build a solid foundation or else to minimize injury. We must than able to program it in order to have a carry over to our sports we play. When competing/playing for sports, we continuously stressing our nervous system, hence it is not just physically demanding but also physiological demanding.

Any athletes can get strong in the gym by simply strength train. However, developing a powerful athletes does not just stop here. We need to teach our athletes to be able to produce force in shortest amount of time as possible and appropriately stress the nervous system to get them prepared for their competition. We do this by integrating plyometrics and other speed + power training to the overall program. An athlete will always have a better advantage over the other player if the athlete has the ability to generate explosive power or speed and carry themselves over from one position to the other. Below is the sequence of the training program to give you an idea of your sport training program.
