Develop the ability to transition laterally to forward sprint from the ground.
When beginning lateral speed training it is essential to have your athletes to start from ground up. The quickest way for athletes to learn this drill and understand the mechanics is to have them doing the half kneeling start. Doing this will encourage the push off of the "outside" leg (front leg) during the start of the acceleration.
Key points to look out for when performing this drill.
Contralateral arm positioning
Slight forward trunk lean
Big push off from the front leg "the outside leg"
